Facade – Staircase – Mosaic

T h e  F a c a d e _ is the skin. The vertical surface where the private, introverted, unseen self meets the public, extroverted, exposed one. It’s a spatial boundary joining the familiar with the strange, the predictable with the unexpected, the touch with the gaze. It’s a filtering plane working as a threshold between different states of consciousness.

T h e  S t a i r c a s e _ is the joint. Linear or spiral, it’s the vertical spine meant to bring different space levels, elements and atmospheres together. It’s all about connecting a part with another so that they can function as a system together. It’s all about transferring information from a place to another so that a story can be told. It’s a narrative unfolding in space over time.

T h e  M o s a i c _ is the handcraft. It’s the result of human work: a representation of an era’s aesthetics. It’s all about materiality, assemblage, colours and shapes. It’s not about the structure but the beauty. It’s a treat for the eye. It’s an ornament and a crime.
